|Life: An Evolving Adventure||
It's a dark and stormy afternoon and that somehow matches my mood. Can't have unrelenting sunshine, I guess, even in Florida. We used to refer to the rain as "liquid sunshine" when I was a kid. I remember being fascinated with rain because you could be standing on one side of the street in the rain, while on the other side, it remained dry and sunny. Sometimes there was even a clear line of demarcation between the two, as if clouds had edges beyond which they could not venture. It could also be raining quite hard with no visible clouds and the sun shining brightly, which tended to produce some lovely rainbows. That was one of many interesting observations: such as the fact that you couldn't "smoke" cattails, shells in a mound usually had the unbroken ones on the bottom, the wind changes direction from offshore to onshore at some point in the late afternoon and often stops altogether at sunset. I remember having infinite patience as I waited for wildlife to reveal secrets to me, finding they did so only after I had achieved such stillness as to blend completely into the background. I now wonder where that patience disappeared to, and when it vanished?
